The
main thrust of ASHTOR’s activities will be the building of the
capacities of the Hispanic seniors to achieve the improvement of the
socio-economic conditions of its members. An ample intergenerational
approach will be utilized to materialize these goals.
ASHTOR
will strive to promote a dignified and meaningful life for the
Hispanic seniors of the GTA so they can retire and enjoy the fruits
of a life of work and sacrifices.
To
identify problems affecting the community of Spanish-speaking
seniors promoting activities leading to satisfy their needs and
aspirations, especially those related to housing and home support.
To
develop recreational and cultural programs and activities for the
Hispanic seniors recognizing their cultural heritage.
To
provide services for the Hispanic seniors including advocacy,
information, orientation and referrals.
To
promote and coordinate the above indicated activities in conjunction
with other communities of seniors in Ontario, encouraging, at the
same time, the unity of the Hispanic seniors.
